Description
View Cozumel’s barrier reef from a glass bottom boat
The excitement starts before you even get into the waters of the Riviera Maya and its best snorkeling areas. That’s because your 3 reef snorkel by boat excursion begins with a glass-bottom boat ride on the Cozumel waters. With 100 feet of visibility, you’ll have a window into the underwater world by simply looking down.
Without getting wet, you’ll look at incredible coral formations and you might catch glimpses of rich sea life such as angelfish, gudgeons, pipefish, and sponges. This is a great preview of what you’re about to experience when you snorkel.
Feel heaven by snorkeling at Cielo and Colombia reefs
The first place you’ll visit is Cielo Reef, which has a depth of only 8 feet, making it ideal for both beginner and advanced snorkelers. The warm, crystal-clear waters of Cielo (‘heaven’ in Spanish) are the perfect addition to the colorful scenario you’ll explore further on as your outing continues.
Your second stop will be Colombia Reef. This is a phenomenal place with corals that reach from depths of 30 feet under the surface to only 5 feet. Colombia Reef is also home to an incredibly diverse array of vibrant sea life forms such as turtles, rays, and many other rare and beautiful creatures.
View underwater caves and more wonders at Palancar
Finally, your last snorkeling spot will be the world-famous Palancar Reef. It will astound you with its coral mountains, its great size, its immense depth, and even its impressive caves! And at this magnificent spot, you might see hawksbill turtles, seahorses and even harmless nurse sharks. They’re all there waiting to be witnessed!
Note: The glass bottom boat will pick up guests in Cozumel resorts that have their own piers.
